Hi, was wondering if anybody knows if downloading a munromagic route - to an android phone with Viewranger was possible...............Thanks

Hi Stuart,

Yes it is possible, but rather than download the file directly to my Samsung Android phone, I find I have to download the gpx file to my PC first and then transfer it to the phone either by data cable or by email attachment. Make sure the file is stored in the /sdcard/viewranger folder (ideally in the /sdcard/viewranger/Routes folder).

Once the file is on the phone, startup Viewranger, press the menu button (bottom left) and select Organizer and then Routes. Then select the menu button once more and select Import/export.  Then select Import GPX/LOC and the MM gpx file should then be available for you to select and import.

Once imported, hit the down arrow next to the route and you're good to go!

I haven't tried this personally but it seems Android will not download any file extension that it does not recognise (not just gpx). There is a useful thread here which suggests you can download an App to solve the issue.
