Carn Mor Dearg Arete - possible with a dog?? 04 Jun 2009
Hi - I'm an experienced walker (ex climber) so have no problems with the arete myself but have never actually been on it.

Take my labrador Jake on the hills with me these days and I'm keen to tackle the arete next week. He's out on the hills with me a fair bit and is happy on all normal terrain.

Question is, it is passable for a dog? Particularly keen to hear from someone who has actually taken their dog on it. Otherwise keen to hear from people who have been on it and think it is/isn't passable.

Thanks

Darren

PS He's 35kg so carrying him is not an option!

Yes it should be fine. We took our Jack Russel along the arete last year and encountered no problems for the dog. At no stage did we feel that he should have been on the lead either. At times the dog would go along the bypass path below us and join us back on the ridge.

Perfect - thanks Chris - exactly the kind of first hand experience I was looking for!

Much appreciated.

Cheers
