Return to Sgurr A' Mhaoraich
Sgurr a’ Mhaoraich from Loch Quoich by Roger Vander Steen

17th May 2010. The stalkers’ path up to Bac nan Canaichean is very well constructed and dry along its whole length. It briefly disappears when the slope eases off but reappears before the final climb to Sgurr Coire nan Eiricheallach, where it veers to the left in wide zig-zags before emerging only a short distance to the west of that summit. From here, a short airstrip can be seen at Alltbeithe. The route to the final summit is obvious, passing some short, unconnected examples of dry-stone walling. We took a direct route over the final steep step before the summit as the path seemed to move round to the north side where there was still a steep bank of soft snow. Rather than descend by the south ridge, it seemed more interesting to stay high by retracing our steps.
