 Notes
This moderate route from Nant Gwynant provides a straightforward traverse of Yr Wyddfa on broad ridges and slopes with scree; and with some scrambling required to reach Y Llewedd by a short detour.

Here we provide the nearest town to the start of the route where you will find basic services.

We then give directions from that location to the route start. Your approach route may differ.

Route Waypoint Map

The total ascent is 1,135 metres. Allow 4.5 hours to complete this 12.32 km route.

Usually the shortest way to climb the mountain, making best use of tracks and paths to gain altitude. Route navigation requires map reading skills and an ability to navigate with a compass.

The information given here will enable you to annotate your map and plan your route. We do not give anecdotal descriptions on where to find the paths, worn by the feet of previous mountaineers.

Where the access routes are few or the ridge is narrow, paths are generally obvious. On open ground, following paths without using your compass may get you lost in poor visibility.

Seemed quieter than other main routes up the mntn, and v. pleasant. Turned into a thick FOG at the top when I walked it.In these conditions, if you have not been up this route before, the scramble at the top can be a bit disconcerting for a beginner trying to find the correct path amongst a myriad of half paths. But easy when you know how!
