Our summary will always contain one of easy, moderate or hard to indicate the severity of the route.

 Notes
A longer route on two craggy hills. WARNING! requires unbridged crossing of river, which may not be possible in wet weather. Avoid scrambling on weathered sandstone which gives poor handholds.

Here we provide the nearest town to the start of the route where you will find basic services.

We then give directions from that location to the route start. Your approach route may differ.

Usually the shortest way to climb the mountain, making best use of tracks and paths to gain altitude. Route navigation requires map reading skills and an ability to navigate with a compass.

The information given here will enable you to annotate your map and plan your route. We do not give anecdotal descriptions on where to find the paths, worn by the feet of previous mountaineers.

Where the access routes are few or the ridge is narrow, paths are generally obvious. On open ground, following paths without using your compass may get you lost in poor visibility.

The route over the two hills is quite demanding. The distance is not great but the amount of ascent and the terrain type makes it a hard day. The ascent to Cul Mor is straightforward however after it becomes harder, where care must be taken to avoid the cliffs that dominate the south slopes of Cul Mor. I followed the MM route guide in reverse order and the drop betwen the 2 peaks is roughly 700m and the reascent over steep heathery ground. The descent from Cul Mor was also steep Cuk Beag summit followed the N edge of Creag Dhubh back to the roadside about 1km S of startpoint.
