Usually the shortest way to climb the mountain, making best use of tracks and paths to gain altitude. Route navigation requires map reading skills and an ability to navigate with a compass.

The information given here will enable you to annotate your map and plan your route. We do not give anecdotal descriptions on where to find the paths, worn by the feet of previous mountaineers.

Where the access routes are few or the ridge is narrow, paths are generally obvious. On open ground, following paths without using your compass may get you lost in poor visibility.

An alternative route is from the north, parking is in a lay-by at 254116. From here the Millennium windfarm track can be taken for a couple of miles up the hillside through new plantations. We then continued our ascent through Coire nan Eoin before heading east up to the summit of Meall Dubh. It is a wonderful viewpoint. To descend we headed to the Meall Dubh/Beinn an Eoin col before dropping down towards the Allt an Eoin before crossing the heathery terrain back to the aforementioned track to provide a good circuit. After the track you will find no paths on this Corbett from this side.
