The hillphones service can inform you of stalking activities in the area.

Usually the shortest way to climb the mountain, making best use of tracks and paths to gain altitude. Route navigation requires map reading skills and an ability to navigate with a compass.

The information given here will enable you to annotate your map and plan your route. We do not give anecdotal descriptions on where to find the paths, worn by the feet of previous mountaineers.

Where the access routes are few or the ridge is narrow, paths are generally obvious. On open ground, following paths without using your compass may get you lost in poor visibility.

This route is definitely baggers only. The ascent is quite dull, starting at Kingussie Golf Club and follows a road & landrover tracks all the way up and down. I would say that taking the track that bears to the right immediately before Pitmain lodge offers a slightly easier ascent as the gradient is less. The views though over to the west are enjoyable and it makes for a straightforward jaunt if someone has a few hours spare. I would think fit people would do this route in less than 4.5hrs. Followed the track that heads down the south flank back to Pitmain Lodge making a cicuit of the route.
