Where the access routes are few or the ridge is narrow, paths are generally obvious. On open ground, following paths without using your compass may get you lost in poor visibility.

Done on an overcast snowy day in December 2008. Even then the cliffs above the loch were an impressive sight. As a shorter excursion we did it in reverse from step 9 to the summit and back again. Parking available on the verge next to the plantation.
