An estimate of the time taken based on a derivation of Naismiths rules. Our calculation is based on the horizontal and ascent components of a climb, we do not make a reduction for descent.
Registered users can customise these walking times by specifying their own walking and ascending speeds. They can also add a fixed time period for stoppages.

An easy lochside walk followed by a relatively short (but energetic) grassy scramble onto the NE ridge. Returning by the long SW ridge, care needs to be taken in mist to keep to its top, avoiding the deep valleys draining into Loch Turret.

Head to: Crieff
Take the A85 from Crieff to Comrie, turning right at the bridge over the River Earn (signposted to the Distillery). About 300m beyond the Distillery, turn left at the sign for the waterworks. Follow the road (5km) up to the Car Park at the Dam.

A really nice route in a lovely valley, I definitely prefer this to the route from Glen Lednock. There was hardly anyone else in the whole of Glen Turret even though it was a beautifully sunny day. I added in the nearby Corbett, Auchnafree Hill as I had plenty of time. As promised, plenty of mountain hares and also great views of ravens on the crags.

I did this route 12th December and found it ideal for a short winter day. The bothy by the Lochan doesn't exist any more. The path marked on the latest OS map ends at NN795304; in fact it goes on to NN785311 near where the bothy was.

For those of them that find this an unintersting hill then they must have walked up it with their eyes closed...a nice loch (Turret) a good looking corrie and an easy and pleasant stroll for the day...the walk in by Loch Turret helps get your legs ready for the ascent from Lochan Uaine and not more than an hour needed to complete this pleasant and undemanding route.
