Ascending the first pitch of Am Basteir from just above the Bealach a' Bhasteir. A simple grade 2 scramble (some exposed bits) until the 'Bad Step' is reached.

The final summit ridge of Am Basteir as seen standing at the top of the 'Bad Step', which is as near as some people get! Descend the step from about 4m left of this spot then traverse back to the ridge on a basalt ledge. Easier ascending it coming back.
