Two novice wild campers were rescued after getting into difficulties on the flanks of England’s third-highest mountain.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was alerted about 6.15am on Thursday to two young men who were in a tent below Browncove Crags on the western side of Helvellyn

Campaigners have condemned the Westminster government for reneging on a commitment to ditch a deadline for recording lost paths in England.
Environment secretary Thérèse Coffey’s decision only to grant a five-year extension to the 2026 cut-off date means the public’s right to use these routes will be disappear for ever, the Open Spaces Society said

A group of walkers was guided to safety after getting into difficulties in wintry conditions on England’s third-highest mountain.
The nine men, from the Manchester area, had to contend with blizzards and knee-deep drifts as they made their way down from Helvellyn
