Carn Ealasaid lies SW of Beinn a' Chruinnich, the E slopes of which is the Lecht Ski Area, therefore an ascent from the E is not recommended. Carn Ealasaid sits at the intersection six radiating ridges of varying length giving it a star like configuration. Of these ridges three are significant; the first runs NNE to Beinn a' Chruinnich to which Carn Ealasaid is connected by a high col; the second runs SSE to Cairn Vaich offering an ascent route from Cock Bridge; The third runs NW then forks W to Tolm Buirich (693m) and NNW towards Blairnamarrow on the A939. A path from Dunanfiew by the River Don N to Blairnamarrow on the A939 passes over the W shoulder of Carn Ealasaid. This path passes within 500m of the summit and offers ascent routes from the S and N
