The steep and craggy W slopes of Stob an Aonaich Mhoir face Beinn Bheoil and Ben Alder across Loch Ericht. The hill is elongated NNE to SSW (parallel at the loch) and has a single spur on its E slopes to Carn Dearg. The E slopes are much more gentle and with the exception of Carn Dearg are crag free. Stob an Aonaich Mhoir is normally climbed with Beinn Mholach and the pair can be accessed from Bridge of Ericht on Loch Rannoch, to the S, or from Dalnaspidal Lodge on the A9 to the NE.
