Mountain Description
|

|
Beinn Lair lies on a range of hills running NW to SE on the NE shore of Loch Maree. The A832 road is only 5km away, but on the other side of Loch Maree, so unless you can arrange a ferry to Letterewe (we do not know if this is possible) then you have a very long walk in. The path from Kernsary to Polt Fraochain offers the nearest approach and from here an ascent is possible via Bealach Mheinnidh which avoids the steep craggy NE face. The other faces of this hill offer easier slopes with only scattered rock outcrops but there are no access paths. An approach from the Kinlochewe end of Loch Maree is possible, but even longer.
