Faochaig is a relatively remote mountain, surrounded on three sides (W, N and E) by steep craggy slopes and the easiest approach is from the S where the slopes are crag free and a path ascends from Carnach in Srath Duilleach. To the W Faochaig is attached by a ridge to Sron na Gaoithe (725m) offering a high level approach from Sguman Coinnitch (Corbett)
