Family and friends climbed this in sensational weather. This is a really good hill with interesting and varied terrain. There are no difficulties and the final accent in amongst the craggs is really enjoyable. Our 12 year old loved it!

Climbed via the front route which takes you past the Spearhead. The Spearhead is quite awesome looking when you approach it through the cloud. Decended by the route that takes you to the bealach joining Beinn Ime to Beinn Narnain and then headed back to the car park via main path past the Cobbler. A great walk even though it rained all the way through it. Can't wait to do this one again during nicer weather.

We Bagged this one on Monday 29th of June , we went round the back and were looking to go on to Ime but the cloud was too dense at the top that we mucked up our directions and followed the path that takes you back down the front to the car park , this was very scary especially the rocky gully but was exciting and after coming through the gully of death we were met by a sea king rescue helicopter doing training , we sat and watched and then made our way down to beautiful views of Loch Long and Ben Lomond , Disappointed we didn't get to do what we wanted but great day out for Danny and Kylie Munro ...

Beware if parked in Loch Long car park, it is prone to flooding if there is a higher than normal high tide I would recommend using the higher parking spaces, and not near the beach. My car was written off here after it burst it banks ruined a really good day!

After originally planning to do the Cobbler, we turned right at the dam and followed the boggy path to the approach of Ben Narnain.
The path could be the remnants of the old Iron Ore mining activities on these hills!
It was a good walk with some mild scrambling in places with great views of Loch Long and the other Arochar Alps.Ben Vorlich and neibouring hills in Lochearn area were clearly visible.
The wind was the problem at the summit.Very strong indeed.
The Cobbler was there so on we went to that.Still the best hill in the area despite its Corbett status!

I found this one tougher than I thought it would be. It is not to visible from anywhere. When you are on the mountain it reveals itself very well with great views of Ben Lomond, The Cobbler, Beinn Ime and Ben Vane. Summit is weird. A large plateau with an interesting Trig.

My second visit on 11/04/2009, our party of 4 took infinitely preferrable direct route up the old cable railway from Loch Long carpark. Started warm and sunny but ended cold, wet and windy. Loved the "scrambling" near the summit through the rocky outcrops but that weird flat summit is like the moon! Limited views that day but on our way down to Narnain's Boulders we spotted an amazing cave which we dully explored.

Walked on 29/8/08 my second munro conquered. Cloud base was sitting at about 800m so views from top where non existent, and finding the summit was done by following size 11 treads in the mud. Was breaking in new boots so will return to do Beinn Ime next week, hope the weather clears to give me better veiws.

Done after The Cobbler on a fine day on 18 may, 2008. Weather ranged from quite hot to muggy with a cooler feel at the summits. The hill is understated in the books but is a delight & a challenge in equal measure. The descent via the spearhead captures the attention & is an awesome sight to look back upon.

My first Munro. Climbed with Bill(Bear)Anderson on a nice sunny day. Went directly up by the front following a small waterfall. The top was very cold and very windy.
Sun came back on descent.. Sanies and soup tasted great at the cairn.
Going up was fine.
Coming down my knees were in great pain !!! (kept Bill back a while)
Apart from the pain, it was a great day.

I started up from the car park in pouring rain with the intention of doing Narnain and Ime but by the time I was at about 400m I was walking in almost zero visibility and crawling up the path which had a full blown river running down it, after reaching a false summit at around 800m, I wandered around in the mist for a while before seeing the final part of the hill appearing out of the mist...straight up it seemed, this last part for me was tough going it really was a vertical scramble and quite worrying as i could see nothing round about me. It was at this point I suddenly remembered that I had not told anyone where I was (not good) which gave me a bit of a turn. By the time I got onto the summit plateau I was feeling thoroughly miserable and soaked to the skin (not forgetting I could barely see my hand in front of my face so decided to come back and do Ime another day preferably in the sun!

Climbed straight up the Spearhead route. Looks like there could be a good route round and over A' Chrois and then down to Succoth. Poor visiblity on the summit though and from the map it looked like there could be some big rock outcrops. Anyone done this route?

From Ime we headed acros the Bealach to Narnaine, seriously sore legs, my left one wouldn't stop Elvis'ing!) Eventually found my pace again and reached the Summit in good time with Steve & Marty, route was quite straight forward, a wee tricky bit just before the large plateau on top. But nothing technical to worry about. Mostly cloud covered the top while we were up on the summit. Impressive drops on either side of the hill. The
Spearhead is very impressive. Steep decent, but there's a path all the way, returned by the concrete rail stantions, an ardous desent and mind-numbingly dull, a little better than
descending via the zig-zags. Great day out.

My wife's friend and I climbed this on 25/2/07 after having planned to do either Beinn Ime or the Cobbler. Both were cloud covered by the time we reached the Bealach a' Mhaim, and so we opted for Beinn Narnain (as did a few people we saw) a decision which pratically invited the clouds onto the summit for the first time that day, which we reached after passing over two boulder fields (we came back down a better path).
Quite a pleasant day out.

In my opinion this is a fine mountain and the best of the Arrochar Alps. The south east ridge is rocky and craggy in places, with several false summits to spur you on. The spearhead is impressive and it's good fun clambering through the crags near the top. Enjoy.

Climbed on 29th July 2000 my very first Munro and its amazing I carried on. It was pouring with rain, my kit was poor and we got lost and ended up in 6ft high ferns. Should have been an easy climb straight up however we went round to the east instead of straight up this resulted in us climbing the full eastern face of the mountain on our hands and knees....quite literally. To make matters worse when we reached the summit the views were awful as the cloud level was really low. Shall go back and do this one again when the sun is shining and take the right path, should be more enjoyable.

From Succoth climbed north to summit of Narnairn encountering several false summits but leaving the best till last, the impressive "Spearhead". Over summit to bealach between Narnairn and Beinn Ime and nice steady climb over grassy slopes to summit of Beinn Ime. Fabulous views of Vane, Vorlich, Lomond, Narnairn and the Cobbler. Returned to Bealach and made last ascent of the day to the summit of the Cobbler. Returned to Beleach head for the Narnain Boulders and down the winding tracks to Succoth. Best day out I've had in years. A must do day out. Enjoy.

Climbed with my mate Kieran as part of a 3 day Arrochar Alps backpack. Ascent from Succoth, passing Narnain Boulders and camped at the bealach between the Cobbler, Beinn Ime and Beinn Narnain. Ascent of the Cobbler that evening then early morning ascent of Beinn Narnain. One of the best mountain days out for me as we were above an inversion so only the summits poked out above the clouds!! Descent back to tent, that was still shrouded in cloud!

Climbed this on a beautiful sunny 19th Oct Sat 2002, from carpark at head of Loch Long. As others noted, once forest is left behind, the 1st 1000ft "up the pipeline track" is a bit of a slog. Drudge can be broken by pausing, turning around and taking in the superb view. Main path turns left towards the Cobbler. I carried on the smaller path up through the crags-more interesting & fun. Views of lochs Long, Lomond Katrine & Arklet are superb. Over 1st peak and scrambled thru craggs to summit. Slid down the right hand side grassy slope facing Cobbler & joined the main path down. Exclnt day out!

An absolute classic route up a fantastic mountain. The first 1000 feet above Arrochar are a slog but once the rock of Beinn Narnain is reached there is a great rocky hike as the path cleverly weaves a route under and around seamingly impossible crags. I have tackled this route in all weathers including snow and heavy rain and always enjoyed it. By comparison the route onward up Beinn Ime can seem somewhat characterless.

March: Fantastic ascent and sliding descent!. Once past the blocks and boggy terraces some good snow. Was able to slide down about 1,000 ft from the summit on the descent - what a fun day out.

Climbed this in cloudy weather in october 2001. When we got near the summit visibility was approx 10 metres. Suddenly the summit crags loomed out of the mist filling our field of vision - terrifying! Mist lifted briefly to give great views of Loch Long. We'd run out of time so had to leave Beinn Ime for another day and descended by the Allt a' Bhalachain. Wonderful!
