Sutherland boasts some of the best walking in Britain, from rugged mountains ascents to gentle strolls.
The Altnaharra Hotel is ideally situated, right in the heart of one of the worlds great outdoor destinations, to cover the two most northerly Munros in Scotland (mountains over 3,000 feet in height) – namely Ben Hope and Ben Klibreck. In addition there are also numerous Corbetts and Grahams, including Ben Loyal at 2,504 ft, a stunning Highland Corbett with views over the Kyle of Tongue.
For those looking for a less energetic experience, there is a countless choice of walks across gentle slopes, loch-sides and beaches.
The Altnaharra Hotel has 14 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms with televisions and telephones, relaxing comfortable lounges with log fires, resident and public bars and a drying room for those wet days.
Two newly refurbished self catering cottages are also available adjacent to the hotel. Each cottage sleeps four and guests can use the hotel facilities.
